The film score of Vangelis's that I've been influenced by is of course Ridley Scott's Bladerunner (1982). Apart from the film having a luminescent beauty, Vangelis's music is a perfect match. My favourite moment is when a police 'car' flies over a building and Vangelis tracks this action with a sweeping portamento. Simple but beautiful.
I sung with the choir on his soundtrack for Ridley Scott's 1492: Conquest of Paradise (1992). A bit of trivia for you: the Latin-sounding words are (apparently) not Latin at all but made up words which sound like Latin! The vocal arrangements were made by a wonderful acquintance - Guy Protheroe. |
